Doctrine/Articles of Faith
WHAT WE BELIEVE
- We believe there is but one living and true God everlasting, of infinite power, wisdom and goodness; Maker and Preserver of all things, both visible and invisible. And in the unity of the Godhead, there are three persons of one substance of eternal being, and equal in holiness, justice, wisdom, power and dignity; the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.
- We believe that the Son, who is the Word of the Father, the very and eternal God, of one substance with the Father, took man's nature in the womb of the blessed virgin; so that two whole and perfect natures, that is to say, the Godhead and the Manhood were joined together in one person, never to be divided, whereof is one Christ, very God and perfect Man, who actually suffered, was crucified, dead and buried, to reconcile the Father to us, and to make atonement, not only for our actual guilt, but also for original sin.
- We believe that Christ did truly rise again from the dead, and took again his body, with all things appertaining to the perfections of man's nature, and ascended into heaven and there sits until he shall return to judge all men at the last day.
- We believe the Holy Ghost, proceeding from the Father and the Son, is of one substance, majesty and glory with the Father and the Son, very and eternal God.
- We believe in the verbal and plenary inspiration of the Holy Scriptures, known as the Bible, composed of sixty-six books and divided into two departments, old and new testaments. We believe the Bible is the Word of God, the full and complete revelation of the plan and history of redemption.
- We believe that eternal life with God in heaven is a portion of the reward of the finally righteous; and that everlasting banishment from the presence of the Lord and unending torture in hell are the wages of the persistently wicked.
- We believe that Jesus Christ shed his blood for the remission of sins that are past, for the regeneration of penitent sinners, and for salvation from sin and from sinning.
- We believe, teach and firmly maintain the scriptural doctrine of justification by faith alone.
- We believe that Jesus Christ shed his blood for the complete cleansing of the justified believer from all indwelling sin and from its pollution, subsequent to regeneration.
- We believe in Sanctification. While sanctification is initiated in regeneration and consummated in glorification, we believe that it includes a definite, instantaneous work of grace achieved by faith subsequent to regeneration. Sanctification delivers from the power and dominion of sin. It is followed by lifelong growth in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
- We believe that the Pentecostal baptism of the Holy Ghost and fire is obtainable by a definite act of appropriating faith on the part of the fully cleansed believer, and the initial evidence of the reception of this experience is speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.
- We believe in divine healing as in the atonement.
- We believe in the imminent, personal, pre-millennial second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and love and wait for his appearing.
- We believe it is the responsibility of every believer to dedicate his life to carrying out the work of the great commission.
Core Values
- Word of God – We believe in the power and absolute truth of God’s Word. We believe that anointed teaching, personal study and meditation of God’s Word renews the mind and transforms lives. This includes equipping and training for the work of ministry.
II Timothy 3:16, 17; Romans 12:1,2; I Peter 1:22,23; Hebrews 4:12
- Family – We believe that the church is called to bring healing to the wounded family. This includes strengthening marriage, encouraging parents, recovery from divorce, ministering to singles, children and youth.
Genesis 12:3; Ephesians 5:21-23
- Community – We believe that the larger community is our responsibility. The church is called to heal the brokenhearted and set the captives free in the power of the Holy Spirit. This includes healing of spirit, soul and body through the Word of God, anointed prayer, counseling and supportive relationships.
Matthew 5:35-42; Luke 4:18; Acts 4:29, 30
- Excellence – We believe that Biblical excellence (doing the very best with what God has given) honors God and inspires people. This involves working with a strategic focus and then evaluating and reviewing our actions.
Daniel 5:12; Philippians 1:10
- Passion for Jesus – We believe that every believer is called to a total commitment to the Lordship of Christ and to live a crucified life by the enabling of the Holy Spirit, dedicating time, energy, material resources, gifts and talents for the Master’s use. To know Him and to make Him known.
Galatians 2:20; I Kings 11:4; Philippians 2:1-11; II Corinthians 8:7
- Prayer – We believe that prayer is one of God’s main ways of preparing His Church to become the end-time Bride. This includes individual, family and corporate prayer.
Jeremiah 33:3; James 5:16
- Small Groups – We believe that transformation happens best in small groups, where friendship, discipleship, outreach, serving others, and accountability mature the believer.
Acts 2:44-47; Acts 4:32
- Relationships – The individual matters to God and to us. Genuine relationships should permeate every part of church life. We are committed to one another and team ministry.
John 13:34, 35; Ephesians 4:16; Nehemiah 3
- Worship – We believe that anointed worship brings us into true intimacy with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Thanksgiving, praise, adoration, and intimate worship using songs, instruments, drama and reading of Scripture are all expressions of worshipping the Lord.
John 4:20-24; Philippians 3:3
- Character – We believe that we are called to live a life of character, which includes honesty, integrity, humility, meekness, self-discipline, teach ability, perseverance, and a servant heart.
Romans 12; I Corinthians 13; Philippians 2; Colossians 3:12
- Evangelism – We believe that lost people are important to God and therefore ought to be important to the church. Friendship evangelism, mercy ministries, and various other means of outreach must be a major focus of the church.
Luke 5:30-32; Matthew 18:14
